Well I was all set to record this show but I accidentally hit the genius switch and missed it all, so we’re stuck with the cruddy audio from the camera, you and I.
For this reason, gentle reader, I’ve only posted a short clip so as to at least give some idea of the kind of set it was, albeit heavily distorted and screeching insane. Just trust me, the PA was huge and sounded awesome. I wouldn’t lie about that, not to you.
Muchas gracias to AJ for filming and capturing the vibe of the night.
Instruments and devices used during the 4 min video, in order of appearance, are:
- a modified Goodwill Audio Generator
- a laptop running Reason software
- a Korg Nanopad
- a Fancy Optical Theremin
- an LFO based on the one in this modified “Uglyface”
- a belt drive turntable and mixer
- an Alesis HR-16B drum machine
Also used on the night but not in this video:
- a Boss SP-202 sampler
- a modified “Rock’n'Board” miniature toy keyboard
- a Fancy Ring Modulator
- a squarewave oscillator based on Tim Escobedo’s Synthstick oscillator
- another LFO to modulate the outputs of the oscillators
(No MIDI sync between any devices, all manual control).
And next time I’ll get a proper recording. Promise.
